History of Juan Lopez Cigars

Founded by Juan Lopez Diaz in 1876, Juan Lopez has always been regarded as a special part of the Habanos brand catalogue thanks in part to its mystique.

Unlike some of the bigger names, not much is known about the history of Juan Lopez cigars, except that it became part of the Habanos family following the Revolution and stopped producing cigars for a period in the 20th century.

Renowned for its small production, Juan Lopez has a much slimmer catalogue of smokes compared to other Cubans, with only a few cigars regularly produced today alongside plenty of regional exclusives. It’s this rarity that has made Juan Lopez such an appealing brand for Cuban cigar aficionados.
